The Local Government Housing Kit
To assist in the preparation of Local Housing Strategies, Urbanista has prepared a comprehensive new Local Government Housing Kit for the Department of Communities and Justice.
The Kit is a comprehensive resource and guide to help anyone navigating the planning challenges and opportunities for improving the housing situation at the local level.
Offering both regional and metropolitan perspectives, the Kit provides practical advice for councils, community housing providers, peak bodies and others on how to use the full range of their powers and influence to encourage better housing outcomes for local communities. All aspects of developing local housing strategies are covered in the Kit, including formulating policies and strategies, delivering affordable housing and assessing financial viability.
The Kit is divided into five discrete modules, allowing users to focus on the parts that are most relevant to their requirements and levels of experience (click to download):
Download separate modules:
Module 1 – Addressing Housing Needs – Context, Roles, and Issues
Module 2 – Preparing and Implementing a Local Housing Strategy
Module 3 – Building an Evidence Base
Module 4 – Financial Feasibility Assessment
Module 5 – Case Studies and Resources
The Department of Communities and Justice website provides further information and downloadable copies of the kit:
